Football History

Simona Meijer started playing football in her early youth years for ZFK DZI DZI in North Macedonia, a team in division 2. Utilizing her technical ability and speed, she was able to play multiple positions on the football pitch. Simona operated in all facets of the midfield, such as being a defensive, center and attacking midfielder.

Simona also played sometimes on the right-wing where she could cut inside with her left foot. Not only was Simona a versatile and good link-up player in midfield, she was also a threat in being involved in scoring. During her time at ZFK DZI DZI, Simona was directly involved in one goal per game as she scored 22 goals and provided 14 assists in 34 appearances.

During the 2021-2022 season, Simona transferred to ZFK Cool, another team in division 2. She continued her scoring proficiency with 15 goals and 7 assists in only 6 appearances. She dominated her opponents and needed to play at a higher level to challenge and test herself against better players. She transferred to ZFK Istatov, a division 1 team in North Macedonia. Thus far in the 2022-2023 season, Simona has scored 10 goals and provided 4 assists in 10 appearances.

Simona has played for her national team North Macedonia at U15, U17, and now at U19 level.

Simona’s Future

Although Simona is from North Macedonia, she also has Dutch citizenship. The goal for her is to play football in the Netherlands and transfer to a Dutch professional team.
